Description

Dimension of the role :

  • Assistance to drive the Food and People (Employees and Customers) safety of the organization.
  • Be the custodian for SPAR SL and manage, maintain high standards driven by the Company Values where people will enjoy carrying out their responsibilities to deliver against expectations.
  • To ensure that food products are safe for consumers, also ensure customers and employee health and wellbeing is managed effectively and efficiently.
  • Assistance in follow up of statuary and regulatory requirements of the country and inform relevant officers and take corrective actions
  • To undertake announced and unannounced inspections of retail outlets (ROC Audits) and other food premises under the governs of SPAR Sri Lanka.
  • Inspecting food processing facilities and procedures to ensure that applicable standards are met.
  • Maintain GMP standards throughout the SPAR SL.
  • Assistance in the process of obtaining, Trade, Excise, EPL and other operations licenses for new stores on due dates and renewal of license of the existing stores on due dates
  • Assistance in reviewing all local / Imported / Private labelling products labels and provide guidance and recommendations to trade as per SL regulations.
  • To assist in investigating and carry out follow up procedures in respect of complaints made concerning food safety & Labelling, water, health and safety or other relevant statute.
  • To assist in the implementing of Food Safety, Health & Safety Procedures throughout the company for newcomers as well as exciting staff and conduct training.
  • To carry out monitoring and sampling, as and when required, in respect of food, water or other matters as appropriate.
  • Fire - responsible for fire safety compliance
  • Assist in Boarding compliance requirements - fire / health and safety
  • Assistance to conduct compliance review meetings quarterly with relevant ExCo
  • Implement Food Safety & HS Policies throughout all the stores.


Minimum requirements:

  • Degree in Food science / Health & safety / Agriculture
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience having exposure to food safety experience
  • Experience in developing and ‘rolling out’ Health and safety processes and initiatives adding value to the business
  • Working knowledge in both oral and written.
  • Flair for the business and be proactive for timely actions, initiatives to prevent disruptions to the workflow of the operation – HO and the stores
  • Listening and attention to details
  • Ability to take control of issues and mitigate as per business needs
  • Ability to work through numerous and varied decisions taken under pressure
  • Ability to put forward a business case for management ‘buy-in’ and deliberation
