Description
Dimension of the role :
- Assist the Senior Manager of new business on implementation of the annual and long-term business expansion strategic plan in alignment with the corporate strategy whilst engaging in value-adding business development initiatives and interventions to positively impact the Company.
- Be responsible on identifying and contractually signing up independent retailers, as per the business expansion plans of the company.
- As a Manager, support and maintain a working culture driven by the SPAR SL Values where employees will enjoy carrying out their responsibilities to deliver against expectations.
- Be responsible for the onboarding of potential retailers and their stores as per the business Plan
- Manage the end to end process of onboarding independent retailer stores including retailer selection, site selections, feasibility modelling, CEO approval, Board approval and finalization of retailer agreement.
- Engage with potential retailers in line with business plan to expand into new stores or conversion of existing stores.
- Engage with retailers on matters related to existing site leases where changes or temporary adjustments to the terms maybe required to support changes in the business environment.
- Explore and introduce potential innovations and opportunities to support business growth.
- Assist the Senior Manager of New Business in identifying and expanding the corporate stores as per business plan.
- Assist the Senior Manger of New business in the day today management of the department, it's functions and any other work as requested by the management.
- Availability of qualifying and willing retailers to join the independent retailer business model.
- Selection and engagement of retailers including correct timing and profile of retailer.
- Availability of support structure such as an integrated IT system with retailers.
- Viability of supporting and travelling to remote locations.
- High costs, limited flexibility in modern trade margins and strong general trade.
- Short term profitability mindset of developers and retailers.
Minimum requirements:
- Degree in Mathematics, Finance or marketing related fields, preferably with post graduate qualifications or GCE
- Advanced level qualifications with at least 10 years in management positions within the FMCG industry in modern trade or general trade sales related roles.
- Minimum 15 years of experience working in the FMCG industry in modern trade or general trade sales related roles of which IO years should be at a managerial position.
- Experience in customer or supplier facing roles in retail or multinational businesses.
- Proven track record in managing sales teams and developing strong networking relationships with independent retailers of both modern trade and general trade in Sri Lanka.
- Excellent knowledge in both oral and written to compliment the effectiveness of the job role.
- Flair for the business and be proactive for timely actions / initiatives
- Ability to work through numerous and varied decisions taken under pressure
- Ability to understand the other party's perspective and propose win-win partnership models with potential business and retail partners.
- Ability to put forward a business case for Board deliberation and approval.
