Dimension of the role :

  • Formulate “Category Strategy” aligned with company objectives
  • Negotiating with relevant suppliers on margins and other commercials including investments, Swell Allowances, DC claims/margins, Promotions, Rebates and Joint Business Plans.
  • Optimize and Grow Category GP levels as per the company targets
  • Grow Category sales as per the company targets
  • Work in collaboration with the relevant Category Demand Planner
  • Ensure highest quality products are procured consistently
  • Ensure suppliers are selected based on ethical and fair-trade practices
  • Advice and guide retail staff on best practices in storage and merchandising
  • Understand consumer behavioral trends.
  • Optimize and Growing Category GP targets based on requirement.
  • Assist in ensuring supplier contributions are received for promotional campaigns and store investments
  • Assist in Managing the monthly Promo Schedule, Campaigns and Other Supplier Income
  • Assisting periodical Product, Category and Supplier Reviews
  • Monthly periodic supplier review meetings, to discuss on improvements.
  • Continuous improvements to the existing ranges through searching suitable suppliers & concepts.
  • Assist in implementing the Procurement Dry Senior Manager’s and Head of Commercial’s strategies in achieving departmental Sales/ GP
  • Monthly monitoring of competitor categories and range gap analysis.
  • Assist in developing and adhere to SOP’s
  • Competitor surveys on range and price.
  • Assist in Private Label supplier selection
  • Conduct category reviews as per annual calendar.
  • Ensure ethical dealings and trade with all suppliers/partners.
  • Differentiate range in comparison to competitors.


Minimum requirements:

  • Degree equivalent in Procurement, business management or marketing is preferred
  • Good IT knowledge (MS Excel, MS Word, MS PPT)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in retail procurement or similar capacity
  • Minimum of 2 years in a Executive position
  • Experience in negotiating and procurement.
  • Working knowledge in both oral and written to compliment the effectiveness of the job role.
