Project Manager – Infrastructure


Key Responsibilities

  • Project Planning and Execution by develop project plans, timelines, and budgets for infrastructure projects involving VMware technologies.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met within scope, schedule, and budget constraints.
  • Lead a team of engineers and technicians responsible for implementing VMware-based infrastructure solutions.
  • Provide guidance, direction, and support to team members throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with vendors and third-party service providers to procure necessary hardware, software, and services for infrastructure projects.
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure deliverables meet project requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with infrastructure projects, including technical challenges, resource constraints, and potential security vulnerabilities.
  • Develop contingency plans to address unforeseen issues and minimize project disruptions.
  • Communicate project status, updates, and key milestones to stakeholders, including senior management, IT teams, and end-users.
  • Gather feedback and incorporate stakeholder input to ensure project alignment with organizational goals.
  • Implement quality assurance processes to validate the functionality, performance, and reliability of VMware infrastructure solutions.
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation to ensure adherence to industry best practices and standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of project requirements, specifications, and configurations.
  • Generate regular reports summarizing project progress, resource utilization, and key performance metrics.

 

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years’ experience as a Project Manager – Infrastructure.
  • Strong project management skills with experience leading cross-functional teams and managing complex infrastructure projects from initiation to completion.
  • In-depth knowledge of VMware technologies, including vSphere, vCenter, NSX, and vSAN.
  • Familiarity with virtualization concepts, hypervisor architectures, and software-defined networking/storage.
  • Understanding of enterprise infrastructure components such as servers, storage systems, networking devices, and data center facilities.
  • Ability to design scalable and resilient infrastructure solutions using VMware products.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience facilitating meetings, presenting project proposals, and negotiating with vendors.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve technical issues, optimize performance, and troubleshoot infrastructure problems in VMware environments.
  • Relevant certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Project Management Professional (PMP), or ITIL Foundation Certification are highly beneficial and demonstrate expertise in VMware technologies and project management best practices.
  • Expertise in technologies including but not limited to Kubernetes projects would be considered an added advantage.
