Description
The Job
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL database servers
- Develop and implement database backup and recovery strategies
- Monitor database performance, identify and resolve bottlenecks and other issues
- Create and maintain documentation for database installation, configuration, and maintenance procedures
- Develop and maintain scripts to automate database tasks and improve efficiency
- Work with development teams to optimize database schema and queries
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams to ensure database server availability and performance
- Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in database administration
The Person
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in SQL database administration
- Strong experience with SQL Server, including installation, configuration, and maintenance
- Expertise in database performance tuning and troubleshooting
- Experience with database backup and recovery strategies
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python
- Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions such as Azure SQL Database
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
